茅臺(Moutai)是中國最有名的白酒，在新中國成立前夕，被選為國宴用酒。據說赤水沿岸的村民四千年前就開始釀造茅臺。在西漢時期，那里的人們生產出了高質量的茅臺，并把它貢給皇帝。自唐朝開始，這種地方酒通過海上絲綢之路運往海外。茅臺味道柔和，有一種特殊的香味;適量飲用可以幫助緩解疲勞，有鎮(zhèn)靜作用，因而廣受國內外消費者的喜愛。
